year. This year the examination is going to be held on 14.05.2011.
The duration of the examination is of 3 days. The detailed eligibility criteria
of the IES exam is given below:

Education Qualification
Candidates applying for the IES examination should have a degree in engineering
in any of the following subjects:

Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering

Candidate having the above branch of engineering are eligible to apply for the
IES examination.

AGE LIMIT
Candidate applying for the above examination should have age between
21 to 30 years.

IES is the short from of Indian Engineering services examinations.It is also called engineering services examinations.

This examination is conducted once in a year and the important dates for the IES 2013 are as follows:

Date of notification:16/03/2013

Last date of receiving applications:15/04/2013

Date of examination:28/06/2013

Some of the important requirements for the IES 2013 exam:

>>You must be bachelor's degree holder in engineering /technology in any discipline from a recognized university.Final year B.tech/B.E candidates can also apply for the exams.

Note: For your conventional papers ,you have to select the subjects from the core branches of engineering only that are civil,mechanical,electrical and electronics and communications.

>>The age limit is 21-30 years with three years to obc and five years to sc/st upper age relaxations.

>>Incase of no of attempts ,general candidates have four chances,obc have seven and sc/st has no limits.

Examination pattern:

Note: As there are few months left for the examination ,try to give more emphasis on the previous year papers so as to get an idea about the type of questions which are asked in examinations.

ABOUT IES EXAM :

Indian Engineering Services Examination, UPSC (Union Public Service commission) conducts Engineering Services Examination for recruitment in various engineering services/posts in various Government Departments.

The recruitment is done for three categories:

• Civil Engineering,
• Mechanical Engineering,
• Electrical Engineering and
• Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

These jobs are considered to be highly reputed therefore a large number of candidates appear for IES-ESE exam but there are only a limited vacancies (nearly 560 including 47 PH Vacancy) so the selection is quite tough.

The selected candidates get a handsome pay in addition to several other incentives of Government jobs and job security.

Eligibility for IES-ESE 2013

Nationality: A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India
