Hello Sir. I want to know if I fail in 2 subjects (2nd year) honours of Calcutta University then do I have to repeat a whole year or I just have to reappear for exam only of that 2 subjects I failed?

If you fail in two subjects then you have to re appear for university examination of only those two subjects. Failing in subject means having backlog, when you fail in two subjects you have two backlogs which you need to clear.

When a student fails in all subject then he has to repeat that semester which means he has to apply for semester exam again in all subjects and clear all subjects by securing passing marks.

No, you do not have to repeat whole years. What you need to do is to just apply for examination of two subjects in which you have not obtained passing marks. The backlog paper examination is conducted along with regular examination.

You will have to write examination of this two papers along with your current semester subjects. Go through previous five years papers, you will easily obtain more than 60% marks in all subjects.

Depends on what fail means. If you fail in a particular paper of your honours but manage to score above 35 percent in aggregate(All the honours papers included ) then you can give that paper at the second year . If your aggregate is lower than 35 percent then you have to continue as a general candidate. Mind you even with 35 percent aggregate ( and failing in a paper ) you will not have your 1st year hons degree .you will only be allowed to retain your hons . When you pass or clear that paper after your second year . You will officially complete you 1st n 2nd year hons . If u fail in that paper again . Then u will become a general student . All the best

No.1 is theory(100), and no.2 is theory(50) practical(50).
