Re: Does previous academic record matter in MBA placement? I have scored 60% in SSC and 49% in HSc
I assume you are talking about job placement after completing the MBA course. Well for job placement it really depends from organization to organization. However in most cases your 10th or 12th record do matter as much as your performance in graduation course and MBA.
However I must say that there are some companies who may not give much importance to the 10th and 12th marks but in most cases companies have criteria for 10th and 12th class marks. They would want you to have at least 50 percent marks in both 10th and 12th for the job. In this case you falls little short because your 10th class marks are 49 percent. If you are applying for the job in private companies I should explain that the criteria is different for different company. Some very reputed companies would want the candidate to have scored at least 65 percent marks in MBA course. There are companies which would also demand around same performance in the graduation course. Similar would be the requirement for 10th and 12th class. However the requirement of private companies does not end here. No matter how good is your academic background there is still need to give a good interview in order to get the job. You will be asked questions related to the field you are applying for and your performance in the job interview is a major factor to get job in the private companies. Always give the answers in full confidence. There are very useful articles online regarding how to prepare for the job interview which may help you in this regard. Another thing which is quite critical is the backlog. Some companies have very strict policy and may not give job to candidate with backlog in MBA or in some cases the graduation course. However if you are applying for the job in PSU which stands for Public Sector Undertaking then requirements are different. No matter how good you have performed in the MBA course you are still required to appear in the entrance exam. Each PSU has its own entrance exam whether its Indian Railways, Telecom PSU, Government Banks etc. You will have to appear in the entrance exams and perform well to get a job. Here you would also require to have some minimum percentage to be eligible for the exam. It too depends from PSU to PSU and this eligibility is mentioned in the job ad posted by the public sector undertakings. |

Re: Does previous academic record matter in MBA placement? I have scored 60% in SSC and 49% in HSc
Dear friend ,
As you completed your academic of 10th and 12th ,you have many job opportuanities alogwith doing MBA.Hence, during apply for MBA some of the goverment colleges , there the academic of 10th and 12th record is does matter. But in many private colleges there will be a no matter of academic records. But in many colleges you should have atleast 50% in both 10th and 12th std. Though this pattern allowed of 50% , then also you can get admission in MBA and job if you considered a job matters. In accordance with Job matters, you can get job even though you have poor academic record if you have greater talent and attitude. Good luck................ |
