Eligibility for IAS at age 20 after graduation?
I am 20yrs old and I will complete my graduation in june of this year. am i elligible for IAS?

Definately you are eligible for the civil service exam through which you can get IAS.
IAS exam conducts annualy by UPSC. Recently board changed the pattern of prelim.exam of civil service. I am here attaching the file in which you can see the changed syllabus and sample paper |

General detail of IAS:-
IAS:- Age limits :- 21-30 years as on 1.7.2011. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs). Educational Qualifications :- Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification No. of permissible attempts :-for genrel 4 attempts for OBCs 7 attemps and no limit for SCs/STs Syllabus:- Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian National Movement Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World. Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc. General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization General Science. Paper II - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills; Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level) English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level). Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper-II) will be tested through passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper. For becoming an IAS, you need to appear for the Civil Service Exam that is conducted by the UPSC.
The eligibility for the Civil Service exam is that you must complete your graduation from a recognized university in any field. Also, if you are a final year student, then also you can apply. Age Limit: Candidate must have achieved minimum 21 years of age as on 1st August of the year of exam. But as you are only 20 years, so you are 1 year short of the requirement, hence you cannot apply this and as it is the last of application have gone past. So I suggest that you complete your graduation and then you can apply next year, as you will be totally eligible the next year for the exam. For more details, visit: www.upsc.gov.in |

No,you are not eligible for IAS exam with age 20,though you have education qualification.

As you are only 20 years old, so you are not eligible for IAS as the eligibility criteria says that: 1.Age limits : 21-30 years as on 1.7.2011. You cannot appear for IAS examination this years because of your age eligibility.
Age eligibility to be appear in IAS examination is from 21 to 30 years. So you would be eligible in next year. |

For IAS, one has to go through the civil services examination conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).
The selection procedure will be by 1)CSAT - Civil Services Aptitude Test 2)Civil Services Main examination 3)Interview. The eligibility criteria will be as follows Age criteria : -One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for IAS exam. - Relaxation is there in upper age limit for the candidates of OBC for 3 years -Relaxation up to 5 years in upper age limit for the candidates of SC/ST. Academic qualification : -One should have completed his graduation with any discipline from a recognized university. Sorry friend you cannot apply for ias now as you are only 20 year old now
For writing the ias examination you should be atleast 21 years Moreover your graduate degree should be from any recognised university Age limit General candidates 21-30 years OBC 21-33 years SC/ST candidates 21-35 years General can have 4 attempts and obc have 7 attempts and sc/st have no limit |

You want to serve the nation , which is really appreciable . But for your kind information I would like to tell you, the age limit exist for this civil service exam is 21-3o years,. also there are 5 & 3 years of age relaxations are also applicable for the SC\ST & OBC candidates respectively. The minimum educational requirement for this examination, conducted by the UPSC [UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION], is the graduation degree from a recognized college , what ever may be the stream is ..... So, you are not eligible yet.. But after completion of your graduation, you can appear in this examination to clear this civil service examination.This civil service examination have three stages - 1.CSAT [CIVIL SERVICE ATTITUDE TEST] 2.MAINS 3.INTERVIEW [PERSONELITY TEST ]. Sorry,but you not attempt this exam.Beacuse For writing the ias examination you should be atleast 21 years.
