the minimum requirement for join merchant navy is 10 + 2 with any stream.

yes you can join the merchant navy this year....but before applying for that just go for a 6 months shipping course this will help you a lot.....there are many private as well as govt. institute providing that course.....like namac(mumbai)

Yes you can join the merchant navy after diploma course..

The eligibility to do this course is to pass 10(+2) with PCM with at least 50% marks..

You can join the graduation courses meant for the deck cadets or shipping agents..

There are institutes like MERI,Mumbai, MERI,Kolkata, T.S Chanakya, Navi Mumbai etc..,where you can pursue the courses.

Career in Merchant Navy can be pursued either as an officer or a rating in mainly two specialized fields, i.e. Marine Engineering and Nautical (deck).

Officers

1.3 year degree course in Nautical Science for (10+2) students.
2.4 year degree course in Marine Engineering for (10+2) students.
3.2 year course for Diploma Holders.
4.1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers.
5.3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students.

You need to be medically and physically fir without any specs.
