To apply for IAS officer exam, the Graduation or bachelor degree is required and there is no particular subject to be studied in graduation. So, you can study degree in any subject as per your interest and after the completion of that graduation, you can apply for this exam.
Age limit to apply for this exam is 21-32 years and the age relaxations are : * 3 years for OBC candidates and government servicing employees * 5 years for SC and ST candidates, ex-servicemen * 10 years for Orthopedically handicapped candidates. And there is limit on number of attempts to write this examination. And they are : * 6 times for General category candidates * 9 times for OBC candidates * No limit for SC and ST candidates. And recruitment process of this post is preliminary exam followed by main exam and personal interview. For any other information please visit www.upsc.gov.in |

If we are talking about requirement for IAS exam then corse doesn't matters because only graduate candidates are allowed to give IAS exam. Only graduation degree required, no matters which course you choose.
The courses which are beneficial for IAS exam are BA/B.Sc because the subjects which these course have will be beneficial for you at the time of preparation for exam. The syllabus which you read in graduation covers almost all the topics of syllabus of IAS exam. |

Re: Which graduate degree to undertake in order to become an IAS Officer?
IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. Union Public Service Commission conducts Civil Service Examination for selection of officers for different services like IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS etc. The academic qualification required for Civil Services examination is bachelor's degree in any stream. Bachelor of Arts candidates are eligible for this exam.
All streams are good. The age limit for general category candidate is 21-32 years. Upper age relaxation of three years to OBC and five years to SC/ST candidates. This examination has three stages. First stage is Preliminary examination, second stage is mains exam and last stage is personal interview. |
