Medical or non medical stream does not matter a lot in case of Civil Services examination. Here what is needed is strong determination to work hard with consistency. If you are devoted towards your goal then no obstacle will come in your path. It is a tough exam and requires rigorous hard work.

Candidates from all discipline of bachelor's degree are eligible for this examination. You can apply for this exam at age of 21 years. You can start your preparation by studying basic NCERT books of science and social science from standard 6th to standard 12th. Make your own notes. Develop a habit of reading daily newspaper like The Hindu or Indian Express.

This is at basic level. In first year of bachelor's degree, you can join any coaching institute for better guidance. Always solve previous year questions to assess your preparation level.

Yes, i can understand that it is tough to cop with both board preparation and civil service examination preparation ( for recruitment as IRS, IFS ).

But do not lose hope and just give maximum possible time ( after board preparation ) for Civil service examination.

From now if you will give 2-3 hours regularly then it is sufficient. But try to utilize time to get best outcome by going through Newspaper , NCERT books or other best recommended by a well known institutes.

To get any information regarding Civil Services visit at www.upsc.gov.in.
