IAS is Indian Administrative Services and if you want to become an IAS Officer then you have to apply for Civil Services Examination and crack it with merit.

The basic qualification needed for Civil Services Examination is Graduate in any discipline from a recognised University.

The age is also a criteria for applying. Hence your age should be between 21 to 30 years if you are General Category Candidate. There is age relaxation available for other categories like OBC, SC/ST, PWD and Ex Servicemen.

The number of attempts are limited if you are General and OBC category with 4 and 7 attempts respectively.

For SC/ST category candidates there is no limit in attempts.

The examination will have three stages that you have to clear:

-Civil Services Aptitude Test

-Civil Services Mains Exam

-Personal Interview

If you score good marks and you are high on merit list then you will be selected as IAS officer.
