i want to know that who can apply for the ips exams and what is the age limits for generals

Those who have completed graduation from any of the recognized universities can apply. No specific marks percentages are required. Age of the candidate must be between 21 and 30 years. Age relaxations are provided to candidates belonging to reserved category. SC/ST candidates can have 5 year age relaxation whereas OBC candidates can have 3 year age relaxation.

IPS stands for Indian Police service.IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .

Those candidate have completed graduation degree from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.Need not require any kind of percentage marks in IPS Exam .Final year student are applicable for IPS Exam.

Age criteria :-

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

IF, you want to apply for the IPS exams than you have to appear in the UPSC Civil services exams.

UPSC Civil services exams are conducted in three stages:
Prelims
Mains
Interviews

Next Prelims exams would be held on 19th May 2013.

Graduation pass in any stream.

Age for the General category:

IPS(Indian Police Service) exams are conducted by UPSC every year.

AGE limit for IPS exam:-
Age must be between 21 to 33 years for General category.
Age must be 21 to 35 for OBC category.
Age must be 21 to 35 for SC/ST category

Educational Qualifications for IPS :
Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Number of Attempts:
Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs. If a person appears in the Preliminary Examination or even one paper is counted as an attempt.
