ips stands for indian police service.to become an ips officer you must have completed the upsc exam
the exam contains some eligibility criteria.the age limit must be from 21 years to 30 years of age and for those who are sc and obc candidates the age limit is upto 40 years of age.

Then the other eligibility are that you must have copleted any degree in any one of the indian universities.
Then the exam consists of three rounds .the prelimnary round consisits of general studies and the optional subjects .the optional subject refers to the degree course you have completed.

Then the second round consisits of writing general essays of english and general studies. Then the third round is the interview lively. That is the procedure to apply for ips exam

There is no separate entrance exam by cracking which candidate will not be placed in IPS (Indian Police Service). Instead, candidate has to crack civil services examination which will be the common exam in order to be placed in various civil services.

This exam is being conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

The selection procedure is by
-CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test)
-Civil Services Main Examination
-Interview

Here is the eligibility criteria in order to be eligible for civil services examination.

Academic Qualification :
-One should have completed Graduation with any of the stream from a recognized university.
-Candidate who are in the final year of Graduation are also eligible to apply for this exam.

Age criteria :
-One should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for this exam.
-Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
-Relaxation is there in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidats of SC/ST category.

You did not mention the highest academic qualification what you have. If you fulfill this eligibility criteria, have good preparaion to civil services examination and crack the exam.

The upcoming CSAT Exam is going to be conducted on 20-05-2012.

IPS exam is conduct through CIVIL SERVICE exam.There is no boundary for Marks criteria so only graduate candidate are eligible.

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be citizen of India.

Indian Police service

All India Combined Competitive Examination for the Civil Services conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)every year.

IPS Exam Eligibility:- Candidate must be completed 21 years on 1st August of
the year, Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs .

Qualification:- Candidate should be graduate with any stream from recognised
university.

Attempts:- for general -4
for obc - 7 and no limit for sc/st.

Physical Standard:- Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST
(not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm
Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm
Chest – Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.
Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.


Exam Pattern :-

1. Preliminary Examination: It is of objective type,.
2. Main Examination: It consists of written examination and interview.
The Preliminary Examination is held in May/June and the Main Examination in October/November.

>>A person should be graduate in any background from recognized university.

>>Age limit: for GEN:-21 to 30
for SC/ST/PD:-21 to 35 years
for OBC :- 21 to 33 years

To become an IPS officer you must clear an exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC).

To appear in that exam, your age must be above 21years and below 30years. You must have completed your graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. You can also apply for the exam in your final year of graduation.

IPs Exam fees for sc Candidate?

IPS - INDIAN POLICE SERVICE, to become an IPS officer one has to appear and crack Civil Service exam conducted by UPSC once every year and there is no separate exam for IPS.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED FOR IPS THROUGH CIVIL SERVICE EXAM:-

-The candidate must be an Indian National
-Should have either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University
-Should be within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for SCV/ST candidate up to 5 years and for OBC candidate up to 3 years
-Should have possessed good Physical Fitness.

PHYSICAL; REQUIREMENT FOR IPS:-

-HEIGHT should be 165cm for General male and should be 150cm for General female candidate which should be 160cm for SC/ST male and 145cm for SC/ST female candidate.

-CHEST should be 85cm for male and should be 79cm foe female candidate which is expandable to 5cm in each cases.
