how to apply for special commission offr in indian army?

For becoming a commissioned or commanding officer in Indian Army, basically you have two options. One is the option of entry through NDA and other is through CDS.

NDA stands for National Defense Academy where as CDS stands for Combined Defense Services. Both of these are defense academy meant for providing training to those candidates who manages to clear respective entrance examination and are looking to be a defense commissioned officer.

Both NDA and CDS entrance examinations are held twice every year by UPSC in two stages which includes Written examination and SSB ( Service Selection Board ) interview respectively.

For appearing in these examination for being a Army officer you must have the qualification given below :-

--> Nationality :- For both these examination, your nationality must be Indian.

--> Age limit :-

For NDA, you must be an unmarried Indian male candidate with your age lying within 16.5 years to 19.5 years.

For CDS, your age must be within 19 years to 24 years.

--> Educational requirement :-

For NDA, you must have completed your higher secondary school degree with any discipline from a recognized board of education.

For CDS, you must have completed your bachelor degree course with any subject from a recognized university.
