You can Join Indian army in 2 ways:

1. Entry through NDA permanent commission, after 10+2 level through prescribed competitive examination known as National defence Academy.

2. Entry after graduation through Combined Defence Services Examination, through Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun for Army as permanent Commission officer. Through Officers Training School as Short Service Commission officer.

Entry through NDA - If you are between the age of 16½ - 19 and have completed the junior year of high school, you can write the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam which is meant for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA). The exam is held every six months at various centers in India.

If you fare well in this exam you will be called in for a Services Selection Board (SSB) interview which lasts for three to four days. In this interview they conduct medical & written tests, outdoor activity contests, personal interviews, etc.

Graduate / Direct Entry - Individuals between the age of 19 and 22 and having a three year Bachelor degree, can appear for the Combined Defense Services Exam (CDSC), which is held every 6 months at various centers in India. Again like the NDA process, there will be a SSB interview and a medical examination. On clearing these, individual is straight away enlisted into the Indian Military Academy without entering NDA, and get trained there for 18 months after which, get a commissioned rank.

i am sorry to say you are not eligiable to join in Indian army after your B.A course.

as after completion of graduation degree,if the students have 55% marks throughout the career,then those candidates will be eligiable to attain indian army.

Hello friend,

You can join the National Defense Academy and also Indian Military Academy after passing 12th.

Of course, if you complete your graduation then you can get higher post in Indian army.

To join NDA ,you have to pass NDA exam conducted by the UPSC and the SSB interview.

For direct entry in IMA or Indian military academy you must be a graduate with any discipline.

Just keep your eye on the notifications in national dailies and employment news which are brought out in the months of march-april and October-November.

It will be best for you that you seek to join Indian army after doing your graduation.

If you are interested in joining Indian Army, after completion of your bachelor's degree course,you may write Combined Defence Service exam conducted by UPSC twice a year.

The minimum educational qualification required to write CDS exam is a bachelor's degree from a recognised institute.
The minimum eligible age is 19 years and the maximum age limit is 24 years.

Following are the tests you will need to undergo before joining Indian Army.
Written Examination
Interview
Intelligence and personality test
Medical examination

Apart from the written examination, all the tests are conducted by the Service Selection Board.
Successful cadidates are sent to Indian Military Academy (Dehradun) for further training.

Yes, you can join the army after your graduation as a soldier. There are many recruitment process after graduation

For some posts the 12 percentage is not taken into consideration.

So you can appear for those.!!!!!!!

Well, your percentage at 12th is not satisfactory.

Basically in Defence large dilema is for Engineering or Science Graduates, but there are also thing for Graduates from other field.

UES: university entry scheme,is meant for all male and female candidates those who have attend there first university degree,that is (Bachelor degree). Notification for it are released In Employment news. Both Short service and permanent service is offered through this scheme. But maximum times it has been seen that it demands Students from Science background, but also for Arts, and Commerce.

CDS: Combined Defence Service Examination (CDSE) is conducted by upsc (http://www.upsc.gov.in) twice every year for entry into all three defence services.
Eligibility criteria is different for all three. For ARMY- graduation in any background,with at least 60% aggregate.For Navy: B.sc(with Physics and Mathematics) or B.tech/B.E.For Airforce- B.E./B.Tech,graduate in any decipline with Physics or Mathematics at class 12.


Educational Cadre: Minimum Qualification required is Master degree in your subject from any recognised University, with minimum 55% aggregate and candidate must also have B.ed or M.ed.

Age limit: 27 years for Master dergee holders.

Besides these you can also enter in there logistic cadre or Non-Combat, or Non-Technical Branches ,the minimum qualification for logistic cadre is B.sc(pcm),BCA,LLB, BA, MA etc.You have to crack an entrance for it conducted by army,navy and airforce it self.Notifications are released in employment news keep it reading.

Advice: Keep reading Employment News, all the notifications, regarding Defence or any Government sector are announced there. And candidates desirious to join Defence must read it every Saturdays it is published all over India.

Definately.even you got low percentage in 12th standard,you are eligible to join in army.remember one thing that the qualification for army is any degree with 60%.so you have chance to get good marks in b.a. So be prepare well to your degree b.a.if you get good marks in b.a,you are eligible to army.so all the best.

Plus two percentages will not be considered much. You can join army after clearing the Combined Defense Service exam followed by an interview. It is conducted twice a year. The candidate should be minimum 19 years and not more than 24 years. You should have good eyesight 6/6.

10+2 (Through NDA)



One has to take an entry level exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to join NDA (National Defence Academy). This exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India. It is restricted to boys between the ages of 16 1/2 and 19. The months of commencement of the course each year is January and July. Applications are to be sent in response to the advertisement which will be published in leading newspapers during March /April. NDA exam conducted by UPSC is based on the CBSE syllabus. Those who clear the written exam go through a five-day interview process with the State Selection Board. On completion of the NDA course, candidates are sent to the respective service academies for their pre- commission training. The IMA (Indian Military Academy) trains Gentlemen Cadets (GCs) for commission into the Army. More details of NDA exam

Graduates (Direct Entry)

The UPSC holds an all-India competitive examination, known as the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE), twice a year for University graduates or equivalent. Successful candidates can join Indian Military Academy for their pre- commission training after the interview conducted by the Service Selection Board and if finally selected, depending on their merit list ranking, are sent to Indian Military Academy. Engineering Graduates (Direct Entry)

An Engineering graduate can join the Indian Military Academy directly. They only need to attend the Service Selection Board interview. Age at the time of joining should be between 20-27 years. The course commences every year in the month of January and July. One can apply directly to Addl. Directorate General of Recruiting (TGC), Army HQ, West Block III, RK Puram, New Delhi -110066 in response to advertisement published in March/April & Oct./Nov.

University Entry Scheme

Students who are in final and pre-final years of engineering degree course can also apply to Indian army as an officer. They are eligible for induction into technical branches/services of the army as commissioned officers under the University Entry Scheme. Age should be between 19-25 years for final year engineering students and 18-24 for pre-final year engineering students. Month of commencement of course in each year is July. Selection is Based on campus interview and Service Selection Board (SSB) interview. Applications should be sent in response to the advertisement published in July.

10+2 PCM (Tech)

There is an another option for 10+2 PCM (Tech) candidates through which one can enter directly to Indian Military Academy. Age limit falls between 161/2-191/2 years. Month of commencement of course in each year is January and July. One has to apply directly to the Recruitment Directorate in May and November.

Other recruitments

Government has approved the creation of a 6,000 strong Support Cadre of Special Commissioned Officers. These posts will be filled up by eligible Junior Commisioned Officers (JCO) and OR. Under this entry, serving JCOS/NCOs/OR in age group of 30-35 years, with an Army Senior School Certificate Pass (Class XI CBSE Pattern) Qualification, will be eligible for commission after screening /selection through Service Selection Board and Medical Board. They will undergo a pre-commission training of one year duration. The officers so commissioned will earn promotion up to the rank of Colonel. The rules for substantive promotion and acting promotion will be the same as for regular officers. These officers will be employed in units as sub unit Cadres/ QM JOb/ERE appointment etc. up to the rank of Major. They will retire at the age of 57 years after serving about 20-25 years as officers.

Medical graduates from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune are directly inducted as permanent Commissioned Medical officers in the Armed Forces. For recruitment of Regular Commissioned /Short Service Commissioned Medical Officers from the graduates /Post graduates of Civil Medical Colleges, the Director General of the Armed forces Medical services conducts an all India competitive exam.

Sorry dear going through CDS is not possible enough because Eligibility criteria for CDS is such that. For ARMY- graduation in any background,with at least 60% aggregate.For Navy: B.sc(with Physics and Mathematics) or B.tech/B.E.For Airforce- B.E./B.Tech,graduate in any decipline with Physics or Mathematics at class 12.

Where as for going through IMA means different types of entry schemes like-
UES, Logistic cadre, Education Cadre etc.

Its alos not possible as your graduation percentage is very low. Almost all entry scheme which are meant for IMA or any other training academy OTA, NDA etc. all demands good percentage 60% for Bachelor one while 50-55% for MAster holders.

yes you may join in indian army. there are so many scheme through which you may serve in indian army. like TES, NDA, IMA, UES etc also some academy. but before joining i will tell one thing whatever your scheme, whatever your qualification you must become a soldier first after that you may be appointed to do your special branch. you have to do first one year training like other. it's not like a job in an company. training is very hard and you have to do hard work. to get all the information for recruitment on indian army visit the official recruitment website of indian army www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.

Yes, you can join the army for lower ranks as your percentage is less.
You can also appear for the NDA exam which asks 10+2 minimum qualification.
For that you have to prepare very well as the exam is really tough and each years lakhs of student sit and only few hard working students could qualify it.

As you currently pursuing BA 2nd year so i dont think so that you are eligible for National Defence Academy examination.
Well UPSC also conduct another examination i.e CDS(Combined Defence Service) examination conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commition). Minimum educational qualification for this examination is Graduate in any stream, please note that only science graduates are eligible for Navy and Air force wing.

Onother way is to join through SSC(Short Service Examination) for which any graduate student is elible i.e the minimum educational qualification is graduation in any sream.

So BA students are eligible for CDS and SSC examination. You can also apply in your final year too.

As you have not done well in 12th exam so you may face the difficulty.However if you opt for BA or B.Tech and sore good marks there,then it can add colour to your career.
Now You can also join the army and for this you have to qualify the NDA(National Defence Academy) exam conducted by Indian Army.

Hi, friends, as i see there is lots of confusion about joining the Armed forces through CDS entry.
Let me make it very clear- To join the army, there is no need of any high marks, you just need to be a graduate and they are not concerned about your 10+2 marks either.
Clearly the requirement is- Graduation in any discipline arts, commerce,science,engineering,pharma,medicine etc. but the degree must be recognized.

so if you are a graduate and below 25 years of age, go ahead and apply, success awaits you.

sir myself suraj chetry and iam intererted to join in indian army but my graduation percentage is quite low so, my doubts is it is possible for me to appear in combine defence service's exam with a low graduate percentage of 40.
