It is good that you have come to a conclusion that you want to become IAS officer which is a great destination to enjoy your future career by serving the people.

In order to become IAS officer, one should have completed Graduation with any of the stream.

As you are in the first year of Engineering course, you have to wait for 3 more years in order to apply for civil services exam.

Here is the selection procedure to be placed in various civil services
CSAT Exam(Civil Services Aptitude Test)
Civil Services Main Exam
Interview

In CSAT exam, the questions will be from the following categories
Numerical Ability
General Awareness
General English

But in civil services Main Exam, you have to choose one optional subject and the exam will be purely on that subject only.

Out of the list of optional subjects for Main Exam, the following will be good for you as you are from CSE background
Mathematics
Physics

You can also choose the other optional subjects as per your interest.

So, try to collect the syllabus for the optional subject that you have chosen and start preparation for civil services exam.

Try to be perfect in all the aspects of written exam by the time you complete your Engineering course and crack the exam.

You should be in the age group of 21-30 years to be eligible for the exam.
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for the candidates of OBC category.
Relaxation in upper age limit upto 5 years for the candidates of SC or ST category.

Wish you all the best.
