im in 12th std studying in commerce field in mumbai i want to become an IAS officer will i hv to change my stream from commerce to arts will it be helpful for me i want to join officer training academy in chennai will it be helpful for IAS if not for IAS then for some other jobs guide me pls.

12th pass outs can try for an IAS officer post. Graduation is the eligibility criterion for this post. Lower age limit for this position is 21 years. But, higher age limit is 30 years. So, you need to pursue graduation in any subjects of your choice first and then apply for IAS officer post.

Since you have completed your 12th, for appearing for IAS you will have to do your graduation

As per the eligibility for IAS

You should be citizen of India
your age should be between 21-30 years
Relaxation of 5 years is given to SC/ST and 3 year for OBC
You should have done your graduation from UGC recognized college or institute

General category can appear for 5 times
OBC and handicapped can appear for 7 times
SC/ST dont have any limit on attempts

You may join any good coaching class as IAS preparation requires a lot of determination.
Joining any class would give you good and relevant material and would also cover the course on time

To become an IAS officer one has to be a Graduate in any stream, after 12th, one is not eligible for IAS.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service, to become an IAS officer, one has to crack Civil Service Exam, conducted by UPSC once every year after Graduation Degree.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.
