Re: How to become an IAS officer if am studying in 12th? How to prepare for IAS exam?
Firstly you will have to complete graduation. You can not apply for Indian Administrative Service unless have a graduation degree. You can complete graduation in any stream of your choice. The preparation for the Civil Service Examination should begin before you complete the graduation.
I would say that you should start preparation during the final year of graduation. You should start with improving your English (if required) and General Knowledge. You should watch a lot of news to keep track of latest events. If your English also need some work then best way to improve is by reading english newspapers and watching english shows/news. This will help you improve your English. Also try to communicate with others in English. That should also improve your English communication skills. You can prepare for the General Studies papers by studying NCERT Books for Class 12th. For optional subject you can choose History/Geography in the preliminary exam. The purpose of this exam is to qualify for the main examination. In the Main Examination you should select subjects related to your course. IAS Eligibility 1. Candidate should be Indian citizen. 2. A bachelor degree in any discipline. 3. There is no percentage criteria. 4. The age limit is 21 to 30 years. 5. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC. 6. SC/ST get up to 5 years relaxation. Exam Pattern 1) Preliminary Exam 2) Main Exam 3) Interview |
