Re: How can I apply for IAS exam? It is possible to crack the exam without coaching?
The application forms for this exam should be available by February. The first part of the selection procedure i.e. CSAT will be held in June. If you clear the same then you need to appear for the Mains which is normally held in October. There shall be an interview round if selected. It is possible to clear this exam without coaching. But you need to devote ample time and follow a meticulous approach. You must try solving the past papers and decide whether you need training or not.

Let me answer your first question.UPSC civil services notification would be on 04.02.2012.The preliminary examination is scheduled to be held on 20.05.2012. To apply for UPSC Civil Services examination first you need to meet the eligibility criteria. 1.You should be citizen of India 2.You should have degree qualification from any recognized university with minimum 50% marks (45% for reservation candidates) 3.Minimum age is 21 years. Coming to your second question,YES it is possible to crack IAS without coaching. Mr.Shah Faisal got all India 1st rank without any coaching in 2009. But you need to do hard work that must be the key. You need to work harder compared to those who are taking coaching. But it is always good to go for coaching as the number of attempts are limited.Coaching gives you better understanding of preparation levels. All the best |
