Re: How can I become an IAS officer after completing 12th standard?
After completion of 12th standard you can not be an IAS officer as the minimum academic qualification for it is Graduation but you can start preparation accordingly for IAS after 12th.
IAS - Indian Administrative Service, to become an IAS officer, one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year. The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. The selection is through three phases:- -CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam -Civil Service Main Exam -Personal Interview So as you are interested you can apply for Civil Service exam after Graduation. You may log on to official website of UPSC i.e. http://www.upsc.gov.in |

Re: How can I become an IAS officer after completing 12th standard?
IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service, a very important part of bureaucracy in the country. IAS officers have wide range of responsibilities starting from implementing government policies to help government craft a policy.
The basic job of IAS officer is to implement government policy and ensure that everything is being done smoothly. It means consistently traveling to places where policy is being implemented and to check whether work is going on smoothly or not. IAS officer also has to ensure that funds are being utilized properly. There should not be any irregularity in the usuage of the funds granted for the policy. Apart from that the development of a region also depends on great extend to the IAS officer. He also helps Election Commission in Panchayat elections and even provides security to candidates. IAS officer also plays very critical role during natural disaster like floods, drought etc. He/She would be eyes and ears of the state/central government and would advice the government regarding possible steps to be taken. The high rank IAS officers also help the government draft a policy. Now in order to become IAS officer you will have to appear for the Civil Service Exam. To do so you first need to complete graduation. Therefore my first advice to you would be complete the graduation course. You can pick any course like BA/B.Com/B.Tech etc. That does not matter, neither would the percentage you have scored in the course. It is important to know that Civil Service Exam is quite competitive and difficult to crack. Therefore what you would need to do is start preparing for exam from 3rd year of graduation course. If you find it difficult to prepare on your own then join some coaching classes. There are two exams in the Civil Service Examination - Preliminary Exam and Main Exams. In the preliminary exam you will have to pick one optional subject while two for the Main exams. It is important that you choose these subjects wisely. There would be a list of subjects to choose from. You need to choose subjects which you find easy. It could be Geography or History which a lot of candidates choose for Preliminary. It can also be a subject in which you completed graduation. Eligibility 1. You should be Indian Citizen. 2. A graduation degree in any stream. Age Limit General - 21 to 30 years. OBC - 21 to 33 years. SC/ST - 21 to 35 years. Number of Attempts General - 4 OBC - 7 SC/ST - No Limit |

Quote:
First you have to take admission in graduation, as it is the minimum educational qualification for UPSC CSE exam. You can start preliminary type preparation in 1st yr like reading newspaper, magazines, yearbooks, make good reading habit. There is an essay exam in CSE, so you need to improve writing skills to get good marks. Write at least one essay a week to make a habit. Take part in literary club of your college. These thing will go a long way in grooming your communication and writing skills. You have to opt for two subjects for Mains exam in CSE, one of which you can take of your graduation subject. Preparation for this can be done in final year , as no need to do it now so early otherwise you will forget what you learnt now. You also have to take a graduation carefully, as selection is not guaranteed in CSE, you need some backup in case you not get selected. This much information is enough at this stage, for more, you can look at various websites and blogs for civil service. |
