This is an Indian Civil Service, In one way it is the top most position in government Job Sector. You can become IAS officer only after clearing an entrance exam. i.e., Civil Service Exam This entrance exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) every year. After B.Tech i.e., your graduation it is a good option to target IAS job . The condition here is you should have minimum required age while registering for exam i.e., 21 years. I want to give you a brief about Selection procedure for same. The selection procedure is a three level pattern. ->Preliminary level- Civil Service Aptitude Test. ->Mains Exam ->Interview For preliminary exam(CSAT) you have to compete with all the applicants who applied for that particular year. The syllabus is common in this level. For Mains Exam you have to compete with the filtered applicants from level-1 For this level you have to choose the subjects according to the tastes and preferences. Nothing will happen if you select beyond your stream or background. so you can select the optional subjects as you wish. This is the list of Optional subjects. have a look upon it. >>Agriculture >>Management >>Animal Husbandry & Vetinary Science >>Mathematics >>Anthropology >>Mechanical Engineering >>Botany >>Medical Science >>Chemistry >>Philosophy >>Civil Engineering >>Physics >>Commerce & Accountancy >>Political Science & International Relations >>Economics >>Psychology >>Electrical Engineering >>Public Administration >>Geography >>Sociology >>Geology >>Statistics >>Indian History >>Zoology >>Law As we have Mechanical engineering in the above pre defined list you can opt for it. and also it is not compulsory. you can select as per your preferences. Select any two and prepare well for round 2 because this is the place where most of the aspirants gets eliminated from the competition. Regards |

Re: How can I do IAS after B.Tech Mechanical Engineering? Which are the subjects?

The Prelim is a sort of filter to weed out dull and non-serious candidates. It does not differentiate among the various disciplines. The Main Exam has nine papers. Paper I is a language paper and you may choose a language of your choice. Papers II to V are common to all the candidates. Papers VI to IX are based on your option of specialisation. The options are: Agriculture Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science Anthropology Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce and Accountancy Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology History Law Management Mathematics Mechanical Engineering Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science and International Relations Psychology Public Administration Sociology Statistics Zoology You have to choose two subjects out of the above and in each subject there will be two papers. Pl note that some combination of subjects are not permitted. While choosing the optional subject, you have to be very careful so as to improve your score. So, you have to choose such subjects where you have confidence of scoring high. Because you are already doing B. Tech in Mech Engg, you may be comfortable with Mech engg as one of the subjects. You may choose one more subject depending upon your comfort level. The syllabus for these papers are also published in the notification. Please go through the same. last three years questions papers are also available in the UPSC website. Carefully study all these and choose your subjects. Once you have frozen option, go full steam to prepare and win. All the best. |
