Height Eligiblity -

Height For Male 165 cm And for Female It Was 150 cm.

Chest –

For Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

For Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.



Examination Pattern -


Preliminary Examination - It is of objective type, which is a qualifying examination.

Main Examination - It consists of written examination and interview.

Physical eligibillity(height only) for IPS is 165 cm for male and 150 for woman.
A graduate candidate can sit for UPSC exem...

You require minimum height requirement which is as under -

Height – Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm

Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm

Chest –

Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm.

(Those can’t expand the chest go to next service. If expansion is less during 1st Medical, i.e. just after interview; during second Medical, i.e. after the result, or appeal, expansion can be shown.)

Eligibility for IPS (Indian Police Service) exam are as follows: -

1. Age - 21 years to 30 years

2. Number of Attempts - Four attempts for open, seven attempts for OBCs candidates and no limit for SCs / STs candidates.

3. Physical Standard: -

a. Height –
i. Male = 165 cm for general & OBC candidates and 160 cm for SC & ST candidates

ii. Female = 150 cm for general & OBC candidates and 145 cm for SC & ST candidates

b. Chest –
i. Male = Minimum 84 cm and after expansion 89 cm.

ii. Female = Minimum 79 cm and after expansion 84 cm.

Anyway, coming to your query, minimum height eligibility required for IPS is as follows:

*Male 165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm

*Female 150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm

A general category student can apply 4 times.
OBC candidates can apply 7 times
There is no limit on the number of times an SC/St candidate can apply.

Dear Friend,
current height qualification for IPS is 165 CM.

for ST it is 160cm

in case of female it is 150 cm, for ST( 145cm)

For becoming an IPS, you have to appear for the Civil Service exam conducted by the UPSC.

Services are divided into technical and non-technical.

Technical services are IRTS, IPS, DANI PS, CISF, RPF &

other Police organisation. TheMedical standards for

This is the height criteria.
But you should have these criteria also :

1.You should pass 10+2 examination with minimum 50%
2.You should have a good eyesight.
3.You should not have color blindness.

IPS exam is conducted by UPSC. There are some criteria you have to follow for appearing in IPS exam.This exam is conduct through Civil Service Exam .

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.
Also you must be citizen of India.
