Hello Urvashi,
Preparing for CAT is not an easy task you must do hard work for it. and you should give as much time as you can give for the practice. see no one can advice you about the time management. You have to take out time from your busy schedule. And try to practice through mock papers these will help you a lot for CAT. All the best.... |

Re: How to prepare for CAT while pursuing B.Tech?
hi dear,
well, CAT is not easy to prepare. lots of hardwork is needed and as per my knowledge B.TEC is also nt a easy task. so, if you are capable enough than go for self study or can take coaching form good institute(like:- IMS, BULLESEYE,TIMES) or if this is not possible the tkae the free test conducted by these centres that is totally based upon CAT pattern and when u start doing CAT then automatically all other test will be prepared as well. as in CAT each section is important and a there is a need to score 40% marks in all the sections ( maths, english, data interpretation, reasoning) 25 each.... well , for CAT prepratation you should take hepl from coaching centre because thay will provide some shortcuts that nt easy to understand by themself....................... |

Re: How to prepare for CAT while pursuing B.Tech?
Hi,
Besides self preparation, I opine, it is better to join in weekly coaching programs (which my friends did during B.Tech) offered by some leading coaching centers like T.I.M.E. This really trains to you to compete well. The coaching is little bit costly but very much worthy. |

Re: How to prepare for CAT while pursuing B.Tech?
There are many engineering students such as yourself who want to prepare for CAT.
The CAT exam is conducted every year and lakhs of students appear for it. Now there are students from all categories who undergo rigorous coaching to bell the CAT. However, I personally feel that engineering students have a greater aptitude than the others and can crack the exam easily. But this requires hard work and dedication. When you are in the final year then you can appear for the exam. So best is if you start preparation in the pre final year. So I suggest that you join some coaching center such as Career Launcher, IMS, to get expert training by professionals who can help you in this regard. Also, I suggest that you refer to the following books for preparation: |

Re: How to prepare for CAT while pursuing B.Tech?
Quote:
FORMAT OF CAT Q.1) I hear that CAT will be held online. Is that correct? Ans. CAT is a computer-based test (CBT) and not an Internet-based test (IBT) i.e. a candidate does not take the test on an Internet site. Instead of reading the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the ovals on the answer-sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option. Q.2) How is the computer-based format different from the paper-based format? Ans. The format of the test is more or less the same except that a candidate reads a question on a computer terminal and clicks on the correct answer, instead of reading on a paper booklet and using a pencil to darken the ovals on an answer sheet. Q.3) Can I take the test from any computer? Ans. No. A candidate will have to test on a pre-assigned workstation and will not have a choice to choose his or her workstation, in the testing venue chosen by him/her during the time of registration. Q.4) What does a CBT test looks like? Ans. A CAT practice test is available on the website www.catiim.in for candidates to get familiarised with the functionality and navigation of the actual test.
