IPS stands for Indian Police Service. The role of IPS officer varies from providing security to VIP to bursting drugs and human smuggling rackets.
IPS officer also participates in the counter terrorism operations and works along with BSF, CRPF and other security forces on terrorism, naxalism etc. IPS officer also plays a very important role during the critical situation like the communal riots. In such situation an IPS officer attends meeting with the government officials to decide further course of action. He also updates the state government officials regarding the current situation of the affected areas. To become IPS officer you will have to appear for the Civil Service Examination. This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on the annual basis. The notification of the exam is released in the month of November and December of every year. Eligibility 1. You must be of Indian origin. 2. A graduation degree from a recognized university. 3. Age limit is 21 to 30 years. 4. The age limit for OBC is 21 to 33 years. 5. For become a IPS officer, required educational qualifications are you must have completed the any graduation from recognized university.And also required age limit should be 21-30 years and also here upper age relaxation is available for reserved category candidates as per govt rules such as 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates and also you need to qualify the physical requirements given below.
