Some Duties of IPS officer are---

The main duty of IPS Officer to control the department that i have given below.

Constables--Law and Order duty and Traffic duty etc.

Head Constables-----Investigating officer and other Law and Order duties etc....

Assistant Sub- Inspector----Investigating officer and other Law and order Duties etc.

Sub-Inspector----Apart from above to act as SHOs

Inspectors-----Apart from above to act asState SHOs

Deputy Superintendent of Police----Supervision of Sub-division

Superintendent of Police-----Over all Supervision of police work in a Distt.

Inspector General of Police-----Supervision of Police working in the Range

Director General of Police-----Overall supervision of police functioning in the

IPS officers have three ways to get jobs, those are:---

Civil service examination conducting by UPSC
Limited competitive examination conducted by UPSC
If state police promotes his existing policemen


The job of IPS officers includes:----

Registration of FIR/NCR

Investigation of the cases, arrest of the accused, recovery of stolen property, challaning of the cases and prosecution.

Recording report regarding missing persons and children and tracing them.

Verification of servants/chowkidars and tenants and registration of security agencies.

Granting permission for loud-speakers, rallies, political/religious functions.

Checking of banks.

Providing documents for filling claim in Motor Accident Claim Tribunal.

Providing Guards for the transportation of cash, if required, as per police rules.

Salary of different IPS Officer----

Director General of Police------80,000.

Inspector General of Police -----37,400 to 67,000.

Deputy Inspector General of Police----37,400 to 67,000.

Senior Superintendent of Police----15,600 to 39,100.

Deputy Superintendent of Police -----15,600 to 39,100.
