yes indeed, marine engineers have to be on ships for duration of months, condition inthe sea change suddenly, you have to be healthy and adaptive... people get sea sickness diarrhea etc. apart from that you must have good natural vision...etc.

For pursuing a career in the marine field like Merchant Navy, Indian Navy it is a must to clear a physical fitness test. So if you would like to have a career in any of these areas it would be good if you go in for check up. Otherwise on completion of course if you find out you are not eligible then it will be a difficult situation. However you can go in for field of teaching and research after the completion of the course even if you have some health restrictions.
