Nice to hear you are thinking deeply about the IAS examination ..
IAS Interview which is known to be tough than a Great HR Interview in company like Google or Facebook.

Only reason for this is Example companies like Google or Facebook just hire personnel for its temporary needs and profits but the Organization like UPSC on behalf of Government Will Select the Top Intellectual for the Long term benefits of a Developing Nation like India.

For this only the aspirants feel they are toughly examined by UPSC Interview Board.
The strategy of Interview board upto my knowledge is very simple. They always look forward for the candidates who will to do anything for the country.

Rather than having great knowledge in the subject of Mains Examination but they need to have a great deal of common sense.
and General Knowledge

Understanding everything with clear basic concept from its origin is observed in Interview of UPSC Civil Service Exam.

They will check your potential with in a hour.. So you have to perform your best in order to get listed in the final merit list.

There will be total 300 marks but the obtained marks in this interview will widely vary from 50-240 marks.

For Example I will tell you one thing read carefully. If you admit that your passion and hobby is to play guitar . The interviewer may ask you questions like
->When the Guitar has been founded,In which country, By whom.
->Who is the top guitarist for the year 2009 ?
->Guitar has how many strings? from which material the string is manufactured? What time will take to manufacture a guitar?
-> Why Guitars are cheap in America?

In this way you have to be ready with answers for their logical questions.

I'm going to provide you the sample interview questions in Civil Service Exam . Just have a look and think upon what strategy to implement in order to get a satisfying score for getting listed in the merit list.

You will actually not get these questions because there will be no question paper for interview round to carry by the aspirant outside. Just based on their feelings about interview by the aspirants these questions are framed. Have a look at them.

To become IAS/IPS Officer then the candidate need to crack the Civil Service Examination and this entrance examination is divided into three parts.

Preliminary
Main
Interview

The Preliminary Examination Consist of two papers and both papers are Objective type of 200 Marks of each paper.

The Syllabus pattern of preliminary examination would be as under,

Current Events
History of India
Indian National Movements
Indian Polity and Governance
Economic and Social development
General Issues
Comprehension
Logical Reasoning
Decision Making
General Mental ability
Problem Solving

After clearing the preliminary examination,the candidate call for the Main examination.The main examination consist of nine papers.

Paper 1 :- One of Indian Languages
Paper 2 :- English
Paper 3 :- Essay
Paper 4 & 5 :- general Studies
Paper 6,7,8,9 :- Any two subjects to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects.

After clearing the preliminary examination,the candidate call for the Interview.

the questions asked are mainly about current and previous presidnt, primeminister, diffrnt wars, and also about ancient and medival history.. Main is the g.k in prelims.. And public administration in mains..

IAS and IPS Eligibility :

Academic Qualification :
The candidate must be graduate from any university.

Age Limit :
ForGeneral :21 to 30 years.[SC/ST will get 5 years age relaxation and OBC will get 3 year age relaxation]

No Of Attempts :
General : 4.
SC/ST: Unlimited.
OBC :7.

if want to be an ias/ ips, the qualifications are u have to get a degree,
then join in best coaching center which u like... u should have aware of current affairs, general knowlege,indian national movement and history..

two optional subjects for ips

I complete my graduation this year. but my percentage is 47%. i want to appear for IAS. my question is will it create any bad impression at the time of interview. My friends said UPSC only appoint toppers and those who hold 2/3 degree with a great academic performance. IS it true? i hold only b.com degree will it create any problem if interviewer watch my Bio-data at the interview time? Need your suggestion
