Age limits A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years Education qualification Must have completed graduation from a recognized University or equivalent. The examination consists of three parts mainly preliminary,mains and then the personal interview. Here am attaching you the syllabus part for the Preliminary exam and hence go through the syllabus part and prepare well.In the notification attached here you can go through all the details of examination. |

Candidates are recruited to the IPS either through the Civil Service Examination or through the selection of the Officers from their State designations.
AGE LIMIT: To appear in Civil Service examination age limit would be from 21-30 years of age ,as on 1st August of the year of examination. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION : Graduation Degree from a recognized University . PATTERN OF PAPER : The main exam comprises 5 types of papers :Paper 1 & Paper 2 are language papers,Paper 3 is an essay paper accounting to 200 marks,Paper4 and 5 are based on general studies, constituting 600 marks (300 marks each); papers 6,7,8,9 are based on the optional subjects ,adding to 1200 marks.Thus the total marks of the paper will be 2300 marks; the paper 1 & 2 are considered only as the qualifying papers. To become IPS you need give UPSC exams conducted every year. To appear in this exam you should have Graduation degree from a recognized university. DETAILED ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR IPS : Educational Qualifications for IPS : Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Age limit: 21 years must be completed on 1st August of the year, which a candidate is appearing. Maximum 30 for general category, 33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs. Minimum education criteria = Graduate
He/She should be 21years to 30 yrs of age at the time of appearing in the UPSC held Civil Services Examination.and there is exemption of 3 years of OBC and 5 years for SC/ST... and even a student in final year student can also apply... Yes,you can join for IPS exam as any Graduate from a recognised university or a college in India is the minimum eligibility criteria for IPS. He/She should be 21years to 30 yrs of age at the time of appearing in the UPSC held Civil Services Examination. UPSC conduct CIVILSERVICE exam for top service like IAS,IPS,IFS and for other government jobs.Even this onwards the pattern of exam also changed as it doesnot have any special subject and the paper will be same for all the candidates. |

This year you don't have chance to apply for IPS exam.As the exam date was released on 19th Feb 2011 and closing date was 21st March 2011.
And exam date also been announced i.e is on 12th June 2011. As you have missed the exam this year,you can apply in the coming season. For becoming IPS officer you can give Civil Services Exam. IPS is a government job which is conducted every year by UPSC(Union Public Service Commission ). The qualification needed is that- 1) You have completed your any Graduate degree. 2) Candidate appear in the final year examination are also eligible to apply for the IPS examination. Not only IPS for any Civil service

The minimum educational qualification for the IPS exam is to be a graduate. Age limitation is between 21-30 years for general category. Relaxation :- 5 years for the SC/ST. 3 years for the OBC. To become an IPS officer you will have to fulfill these criteria.
I think you must have it. Please read these criteria : Educational qualification :You must be a graduate. Age limitation :Your age must be within 21 to 30 years. Procedure :there will be two part, the first one is preliminary and the 2nd one is main. You will have to crack these two sections to get into this. |

Exam Pattern :- There are 2 rounds for clearing this exam 1) Prelims :- This round..also known as Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT) has 2 objective papers which will test your general knowledge,current affairs and aptitude.. 2) Mains :- If you clear the Prelims,then you shall qualify for the Mains where you will face nine papers..where your knowledge of your graduation subjects shall be tested.. If you clear both the rounds..you shall be called for the interview and the final selection.. You need to lay more stress on General Knowledge for CSAT or the preliminary round and your graduation subjects for the Mains.. Following are the details regarding Indian Police Service examination:- Eligibility Criteria : 1) A candidate must have completed 21 years on 1st August of the year of appearing. Maximum age:-30 years for general category, 33 years for OBCs and 35 years for SCs/STs. 2) Number of Attempts:- 4 attempts for general, 7 attempts for OBCs and no age limit for SCs/STs. 3) Physical Standard:- (a)Activities- Weekly run for 10 k.m. in 60 minutes, route march for 25 k.m. , Horse riding, rock climbing, rope climbing etc. (b)Requirement- #Height:-Male:165 cm Pahari Male (general also) & ST (not the SC/ OBC) – 160 cm Female:150 cm Pahari Female (general also) & ST (not SC/ OBC)- 145 cm #Chest:Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm. Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm. Candidates are recruited to the IPS either through the Civil Service Examination or through the selection of the Officers from their State designations.
AGE LIMIT: To appear in Civil Service examination age limit would be from 21-30 years of age ,as on 1st August of the year of examination. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION : Graduation Degree from a recognized University . PATTERN OF PAPER : The main exam comprises 5 types of papers :Paper 1 & Paper 2 are language papers,Paper 3 is an essay paper accounting to 200 marks,Paper4 and 5 are based on general studies, constituting 600 marks (300 marks each); papers 6,7,8,9 are based on the optional subjects ,adding to 1200 marks.Thus the total marks of the paper will be 2300 marks; the paper 1 & 2 are considered only as the qualifying papers. Minimum education criteria = Graduate
He/She should be 21years to 30 yrs of age at the time of appearing in the UPSC held Civil Services Examination.and there is exemption of 3 years of OBC and 5 years for SC/ST... and even a student in final year student can also apply... Yes,you can join for IPS exam as any Graduate from a recognised university or a college in India is the minimum eligibility criteria for IPS. He/She should be 21years to 30 yrs of age at the time of appearing in the UPSC held Civil Services Examination. UPSC conduct CIVILSERVICE exam for top service like IAS,IPS,IFS and for other government jobs.Even this onwards the pattern of exam also changed as it doesnot have any special subject and the paper will be same for all the candidates. |

You will have to pass the exam conducted by UPSC for IPS - Eligibility criteria for IPS officer - Qualification - Graduation in any discipline from arecognised university.
