Graduation is the basic qualification required. After obtaining the required qualification, you need to attend CSAT exam. CSAT qualified candidates should qualify mains exam also. For IPS officer position, you need to qualify physical fitness test also. Detailed information on selection process will be available in UPSC website.

You can take admission into a Graduation course after 10+2 if you want to become an IPS Officer.
The minimum qualification required for IPS examination is Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University. Hence take admission into Graduation and start preparing for IPS examination along with the studies in Graduation. Age Limit: General Category - 21 to 30 years OBC Category - 21 to 33 years SC/ST Category - 21 to 35 years Selection Procedure: -Preliminary Exam -Mains Exam -Interview Number of Attempts for General Category candidates is 4 and for OBC it is 7 . To become an IPS(Indian Police Service) officer, one has to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam, conducted by UPSC once every year.
Eligibility Criteriafor IPS, Civil Service Exam:- -The candidate must be an Indian National -Should have either appeared for the final Graduation Degree exam or passed in any stream from a recognised University. -Should be within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. -Should have possessed good Physical Fitness. Apart from this the candidate should have minimum Physical requirement such as:- HEIGHT:- General/OBC Male-165cm and Female-150cm while SC/ST Male-160cm and Female-145cm. CHEST:- Male-84cm and Female-79cm expandable to 5cm in both the cases. The Civil Service can be applied through both on line and off line mode. Through offline mode the apllication Form can be obtained from General Post Offices all over the country. Through on line mode the application form can be down loaded from the official web site of UPSC i.e. http://www.upsconline.com The selection is through three phases:- -CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam -Civil Service Main Exam -Personal Interview For more information you may log on to http://www.upsc.gov.in |
