Candidate seeking to pursue Bachelor of Education [B.Ed]program from any of the recognized University, must have completed the Bachelors degree program from a recognized University along with high second division aggregate marks. Most of the Universities consider candidates, who have scored a minimum of 50% marks, such as Delhi University, whereas, there are other recognized Universities which considers candidates who have scored a minimum of 45% marks in the bachelors degree program. All the Universities do have relaxation of marks for candidates belonging to reserved category. However there are not many recognized Universities which considers candidates with 42% marks.

Well B.Ed which means Bachelor of Education is a one year couse that can be taken up after completing graduation. In this course, candidate learn to teach students in school. Depending on your stream in which you completed graduation, you will be taught to teach different subjects to the students.

Therefore only a candidate who is serious about becoming school teacher should consider this course. Most schools there days require teachers to have qualification of Bachelor of Education. Without it, they are not offering jobs. Some schools may still hire you without B.Ed degree but they will not offer good salary.

However if you are applying for job in government schools then B.Ed becomes mandatory for the job. Even after B.Ed degree a candidate is required to appear for Teachers Eligibility Test to become school teacher.

Eligibility

1. A graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university.

2. Minimum of 50 percent marks in graduation.

3. OBC candidates need 45 percent marks.

4. SC/ST candidates need 40 percent marks.

As you can see, your percentage in BA is well short of the required criteria. If you belong to SC/ST category then surely you can apply for the Bachelor of Education. Otherwise may I suggest that you pursue M.Com and try to achieve 55 percent marks in it.

If you managed to do that they you will be able to apply for the National Eligibility Test and become collge lecturer.
