i have completed my graduation securing 65% aggregate and now pursuing mba which will be completed . now if i want to do ca after my post graduation then what is the procedure??? do i need to give cpt ???? please tell in detail

There is no difference in the admission procedure of Chartered Accountancy course for Undergraduates, Graduates as well as Post Graduates.
The Common Proficiency Test is mandatory and even being a graduate, you will have to qualify it, in order to be considered eligible for the course.
After qualifying the test, you will be eligible to enroll for the Integrated Professional Competence Course-IPCC.
After IPCC, you will have to register for Articleship Training and the duration of this training program will be 3 1/2 years.
The course also includes other practical training which are as follows:
Information Technology Training
General Management and Communication Skill Course

To successfully complete the Chartered Accountancy course, you will have to qualify the Final Exam, which can be taken in the last six month of the Articleship training.

For admission, contact your nearest ICAI Regional Center or refer to the official website of ICAI- Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

1. Pass CPT Examination

2. Register for Integrated Professional competence Course

3. Complete 9 months of study course

4. Complete 100 hours of Information Technology Training

5. Complete Orientation Course

6. Pass Group I or both groups of IPCC

7. Register as Articled Assistant for a period of 3 years

8. Pass Group II of IPCC if not already passed

9. Appear in Final Examination during last 6 months of 3 years of articled training

10. Pass both the groups of Final Examination

11. Get Final Examination Certificate

12. Complete remaining period of articled training, if applicable

13. Complete course on General Management and Communication Skill

14. Enroll as a member of ICAI and designate as "Chartered Accountant"

sir, my age is 29 years completed. Qulification B.Com with 53% in 2003. I am appearing this CA course.

Since you are pursing Master of Business Administration, I will not recommend Chartered Accountancy Course but again the choice completely depends on you. Recently ICAI made changes in admission procedure for the graduates.


For Chartered Accountancy, the first step is Common Proficiency Test. It was earlier mandatory for candidates who have completed 12th or graduation. But now, graduates are not necessarily require to appear for this test.


Under the new rules by ICAI, if a commerce graduate has scored 55 percent marks and non-commerce graduate has scored 60 percent marks in graduation then he/she is no longer required to appear for the Common Proficiency Test. You can take direct admission for IPCC. Since you too scored 65 percent in graduation, take admission in IPCC through the website of ICAI.

CA Course is done in three stages:

>> CPT
>> IPCC
>> Final

You can get direct admission in the IPCC Stage if you meet the below conditions:

>> Commerce Graduates needs to score minimum aggregate of 55% marks in B.COM to get exemption from appearing in the CPT exams.

A candidates can get exemption from giving the CPT exams if he/she has studied atleast 3 papers from the below list of papers.
