In order to be considered eligible for National Eligibility Test, you need to score a minimum of 55% in aggregate in both the First and the second year of your masters degree program.
However, as per University Grant Commission, candidates holding PhD should be exempted from the National Eligibility Test for lectureship and should be considered eligible for the post of Lecturer but the commission has left the final decision on the universities and colleges.

Universities which considers PhD holders looks for a good academic record and 55% in the masters degree program, around 60% in the bachelors degree program are considered as good academic records. So, PhD might only give you exemption from the National Eligibility Test but to be considered for the post of Lecturer, you have got to do well in your Masters.

Sis/madam, Is doing phd necessary for appointment of lecturers in colleges or universities? Is passing the NET without mphil or phd,not enough for lecturship? Am I sure to become a lecturer if I clear the NET exam? Thanking you in anticipation, yours sincerely, kuldeep singh from bhiwani.
