Indian Revenue Services comes under the Civil Services of the Indian government. Union Public Service Commission conducts the Civil Services examination every year for the different services like:

>>Indian Administrative Services.

>>Indian Police Services.

>>Indian Revenue Services etc.

Yes, an income tax officer can apply for the Civil Services exam but you must satisfy the eligibility criteria for it.

>>Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year candidates can also apply for the exam.

>>The age limit for the general category candidates is 21-32 years. You can get age relaxation if you belong to reserved category upto five years for SC/ST candidates.

The notification for the exam in 2016 will be released on 24th April 2016. After that you can apply for the exam at www.upsconline.nic.in.

You must clear preliminary, mains and interview stage of this exam to join IRS.

Yes, you are eligible to appear for the Indian Revenue Service examination conducted by the UPSC every year.

There is no separate examination for the above post as the recruitment is on the basis of the performance in the civil services examination. The eligibility to appear for the examination is :-

* Candidates age must be between the 21-32 years and relaxation in the age for the reserved category.

So you can appear for the Civil Services examination conducted in the 2016. The application form for the examination is released in the month of May. The examination is conducted in the three stages and the candidates have to qualify in all the stages for the final selection.

For more information about the examination visit at the www.upsc.gov.in.
