I am in 9th standard now I am willing to be a part of NDA (army). I don't know what qualification we need to join NDA after 12th. I am confused what to do, to be a part of NDA.

The minimum educational qualification required to join NDA is completion of 12th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. Eligibility criteria required to apply for NDA examination is mentioned below :-

--> You should be an unmarried male candidate.

--> You should be a citizen of India.

--> You should be in the age range of 16.5 to 19.5 years.

--> You should be physically as well as mentally healthy.

NDA refers to National Defense Academy and to join the same you need to qualify NDA entrance examination held twice every year by UPSC.

--> The basic qualifications required for appearing in NDA entrance examination are as following :-

* You must be an unmarried Indian male candidate.

* Your age must lie within 16.5 years to 19.5 years.

* You must have completed your Class 12th in any stream from a recognized board of education. Students going to appear in their Class 12th board examinations are also eligible. Also to join Indian Navy and Indian Air force through NDA you must have studies Mathematics and Physics in your Class 12th.

* You must hold the required physical and mental fitness as per the service requirement.

To join Indian Army through NDA examination, you should have completed your 12th standard with minimum 50% marks from a recognized board. You should be an Indian male citizen and should be unmarried. Your height should be minimum 157 cms and weight should be in proportion to height. Your age should be minimum 16 years and should not exceed 19 years at the time of the examination and you must also have a good eyesight.

NDA educational qualifications are:-

1. For Army Wing of National Defence Academy:-
Candidate must have passed 12th or its equivalent examination with Science stream.

2. For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the +2 Cadet Entry scheme at the Indian Naval Academy:-

Candidate must have passed 12th or its equivalent examination with Science stream having Physics and Mathematics as main subject.

Appearing candidates are also eligible to apply for this examination.

UPSC conducts NDA exam twice a year with the name NDA I and NDA II .

NDA stands for National Defense Academy.It has three wings;

Indian Military Academy.

Indian Naval Academy.

Indian Air Force Academy.

Eligibility criteria for NDA exam :-

Nationality : Indian.

Age limit :16.5 years to 19.5 years.

Marital Status : Unmarried male candidate only.

Edu. qualification : 10+2 for Indian Military Academy and 10+2 with Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics for Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.

Selection process :

Written examination

Personal interview by SSB.

Physical requirements :

Height : Must not be less than 157.5 cms.

Weight : should be in proportionate with height.

Chest: Must not be less than 81 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms.

Eye Sight : 6/6 in both eyes .

NDA (National Defence Acadmey ) and examination is conducted by UPSC twice in a year.

The examination is conducted for recruitment in defence service. The eligibility to appear in examination is that candidate must have passed or pursuing in 12th from a recognised board.

The age limit to appear in examination is 16.5-19.5 years. Only male candidates are eligible to appear.

There is no limitation on discipline of 12th stream for selection in Indian Army.

The examination is conducted in two stages written and SSB. Candidates have to qualify in both stages for final recruitment.
