I have done my graduation in Economics in regular course but my post graduation in distance learning programme.... Am I eligible for Indian Economic Services exam? Can someone please let me know the eligibility criteria which is followed for the same? Waiting for a reply soon.

Yes, you are eligible for Indian Economic Service exam.

IES stands for Indian Economics Service. This is conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

Those candidates who have completed Post graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics course from a recognized University are eligible for Indian Economics Service exam.

Your age should be in between 21 to 30 years. Age relaxation is provided for reserved category candidates.

Pattern for Indian Economics Service exam :

(a)General English :- 100 Marks
(b)General Studies :- 100 Marks
(c)General Economics-I :- 200 Marks
(d)General Economics-II :- 200 Marks
(e)General Economics-III :- 200 Marks
(f)General Economics :- 200 Marks

Indian Economic Service Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year. This year IES exam notification has been already released. Last date for receipt of application is on 20th March 2015.

Eligibility Criteria :-

You should have completed post-graduation in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognized university or equivalent qualification. Your age should be between 21 years to 30 years at the time of appearing for this examination. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories.

You are required to apply online using the link www.upsconline.nic.in. There is no offline mode of applications available.

I have done my PGDM in finance and i am planning for MA economics from distance learning. So will it feasible to apply for IES or should i plan for regular MA economics course for top colleges.
