Best graduation degree for IAS exam is History because this subject is very scoring.

IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. IAS exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission. IAS exam is conducted one time in a year.

Those candidates who have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible for IAS exam. This exam doesn't require any percentage marks in graduation degree.

Age criteria:

For General: 21 to 30 years
For OBC: 21 to 33 years
For SC/ST: 21 to 35 years

No. of attempts:

For General: 3
For OBC: 7
For SC/ST: No Restriction

There is no such best Graduation for IAS exam. However, I recommend you to pursue for Bachelor Degree in Arts which is closely related to IAS exam. Any stream Graduation students are eligible to apply for IAS exam. Final year students are eligible.

- Applicants must be an Indian Citizen.
- Applicants have either appeared for the final Graduation Degree exam or complete in any stream from a recognized University.
- Applicants age should be in between 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate.
- Relaxation will be given for reserved category students.

You are eligible to select the any paper as the discipline paper for the graduation as there is no limitations on the same paper for the optional paper for the civil services examination.

So you can select the any paper for your graduation but according to my suggestion select the paper in which you have more interest so that you can even select the same for the optional paper for the IAS examination if you have better preparation for the examination.

To qualify in the civil services you need to have the best knowledge in all the subjects and paper along with the optional paper to qualify in the examination. So start the preparation for the examination from the now.

Civil Services examination conducted for the IAS has majority of questions from following disciplines in prelims and mains examination:

1. History.

2. Geography.

3. Political science

4. Economics.

So, if you take any subject from the above list in bachelor's degree it would definitely help in general studies paper as well as in optional subject if you appear from that subject. Personal interest should be taken in consideration more as compared to suggestion.

It is tough to select the graduation discipline for me without having any idea about your interest and weakness. So I think you must select the paper according to your interest in the paper.

But for the I.A.S jobs the graduation discipline does not matter much as the eligibility criteria to appear for the civil services examination conducted by the UPSC is :-
* Candidates must have passed the graduation from a recognised university.
* Candidates age must be between the 21-32 years and relaxation in the age for the reserved category.
* There is no limitation on the discipline and the aggregate in the graduation.

Also as the examination is conducted in the three stages and candidates have to select the optional paper for the written stages. So the candidates are eligible to select the optional paper as according to the interest irrespective of the graduation discipline.

So do not get confused in the discipline for the graduation and in the optional paper select the one in which you have more interest and best knowledge.

No, such graduation course for writing the Civil Service Exam (IAS Exam). All you need to complete Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. You can prefer BA/B.Com/BBA etc. at Graduation level. But, you can choose any course based on your choice.

Eligibility Criteria for Civil Service Examination:

- Bachelor Degree degree in any discipline from a recognize university. Final year candidates are also eligible to apply.
- The age must be between 21 to 30 years at the time of examination. The age relaxation is also applicable for the reservation category candidates.

If you satisfy the above eligibility criteria then you are eligible to apply for the IAS examination.

There is no such specific graduation requirement for IAS exam. You can operate any graduate course, like BA, B. Com, BBA, B. Sc etc. as you wish.

To Become an IAS:

- You required to appear and crack the Civil Service Exams which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission
- The eligibility criterion to apply for the Civil Service exam is a pass in the Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. Final year students may also eligible.
- You must have reached the age of 21 years and must not have reached the age of 30 years and the upper age limit will be given for reserved category candidates according to govt norms.
