To become CID (Criminal Investigation Department) officer, you are required to give Public Service Commission Examination of your state. You may either give UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exam or your state's Public Service Examination conducted by your state every year. The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for CID Examination is " Graduation " or Bachelor Degree from a recognized university. The minimum age of a candidate must be 20 years and maximum age must not exceed 25 years, and age relaxation will be applicable for reserved candidates.

Apart from this other options available for you to become CID Officer are,
* Staff Selection Commission (SSC)
* CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) Exam
So you can apply for the above mentioned recruitment examinations while you are in third year or after completion of graduation. Since you are a third year B.Com Graduate, you are certainly eligible to appear in respective examinations.

You can join CID as an Officer or Assistant because there are two types of recruitment processed in CID department which are mentioned below :

State Governments recruits Constables in CID department under police recruitment of the state and if you are 12th passed candidate then you can apply for this recruitment because when you apply then you need to prefer CID as your first choice then qualify examination and physical efficiency test.

You will have to secure very good marks in exam then only you can get CID otherwise you may also be posted to STF - Special Task Force or Crime Branch but if you enter any of these department then you will definitely join CID.

Another way to enter CID is apply for Sub Inspector or Assistant Sub Inspector post which are recruited by state governments and you can enter the CID as an Officer through these exams therefore you must be good at exam because if you secure good marks then you may get otherwise there are so many options to choose as per your marks.

The state which you belongs to, must have been recruiting candidates for these posts so you must get knowledge because - Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and some other states also recruits Sub Inspectors for CID, STF and CB other than ground duty work so you have to prefer these departments and enter CID.

If you apply for SSC Sub Inspector and Assistant Sub Inspector examination then you may easily enter other crime control departments such as CBI, Narcotics Bureau, Delhi Police Criminal Branch etc. so these are also some better options as per your choice but you just have to work hard and secure good marks then perform better at other stages such as Physical Test and Interview Process so you can become CID Officer.
