I have completed MA in English from Seth Motilal college JJN with 51% and have OBC certificate. Am I eligible for Ph.D in English literature?

Sorry that you are not eligible for the PhD course after completing MA in English with 51% of marks. Those students who have completed their Master degree with 55% from a recognized university are eligible to apply for the PhD course. There is no age limited required for a PhD course. Apart from this, you need to have valid NET/SLET scorecard in order to get PhD admission.

Eligibility Criteria to pursue PhD in English Literature course:

The basic educational qualification required generally varies from college to college. For some of the colleges, the basic educational qualification required is Master's Degree or Post Graduation from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks.

>> For some of the college a pre-requisite of M.Phil is needed in order to be eligible.

>> There will be a relaxation of 5% marks for reserved category candidates. So based on this criteria, if you belong to any reserved category then I can say that you are eligible to pursue this course.

>> For some of the colleges, percentage required is Post Graduation is not a pre-requisite and hence I suggest you to contact them once before you apply for pursuing this course in concerned college.

I am very much sorry to say that unfortunately you are not eligible to opt for the Ph.D course literature as you have scored only 51% of marks in your masters degree.
Candidates those who have completed their Masters degree in English from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% of marks in it are eligible to opt for the Ph.D course in English Literature.

In order to be eligible for PhD in English literature course, a candidate must have competed master's degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for the candidates belonging to reserved category) from a recognized university.
Since you have completed MA with 51% marks and also belong to OBC category, so you are eligible for PhD in English literature.
