As I am studying b.e 2nd . Shall I start preparing gate exam from now? And is there any condition to appear gate exam ? Is really problem in getting arrear in 1st year , to appear gate examination???

It is better to start your GATE preparation after the completion of your Engineering third year. Because, GATE exam will depend upon the syllabus of your Engineering subjects. when you will complete third year, you will have knowledge on almost all subjects and you can easily prepare your GATE exam. But, you can do this, if you start your preparation in Engineering 2nd year.
Backlogs in your first year will not result in any problem. You can attend for GATE exam even if you have backlogs at the time of exam.
