Home science is a subject concerned with home making and household chores. Students of Haryana board during their 10th standard have the option of studying home science. At the end of the year, they have to take the exam of the subject. This is a very interesting subject.

Information about the subject

The subject is all about maintaining a house. The subject revolves around topics that will help the students to maintain the house properly. It can be said to be more of a management subject.

Paper Pattern

The paper consists of four sections. The paper is printed in both English and Hindi. One of the sections consists of long answer type questions and in this section, options are available internally. Each section consists of different types of questions. The paper consists of a total of 35 questions in 4 sections. There are four essay-type questions and internal options are available in the essay questions. There are seven short answer type questions. Six questions in the paper are very short answer type and sixteen questions are objective type. Four options will be provided and only one is correct. The candidate has to choose the most appropriate answer. Two questions are based on map drawings.

Marking scheme

The paper is marked out of 80. All the long answer type questions carry 6 marks. Short answers carry three marks and the very short answers carry two marks. An objective question carries one mark. There are no negative marks for answering the objective questions wrongly. A question regarding map carries seven marks.

Duration of The Exam

The candidates are allotted two and a half hours for completing the paper. Fifteen minutes before the start of the exam, the candidates will be given the question paper and they have to strictly spend this time for reading the question paper.
