Jewelery Designer - How to become a Jewelery Designer?
A Jewelery Designer is someone who creates designs and makes ornaments. It is one of the widely acknowledged professions in the world and it is believed to have its origins from ancient times. There are many types of Jewelery Designing courses like diploma/certificate/advanced diploma courses. Courses on Jewelery designing which is done with the aid of a computer are available too. Those who have passed the course in Jewelery Designing can find jobs in any of these fields:

Qualifying exam
Candidates who are applying for the Jewelery designing course must have either a Bachelors or Master’s degree in Fine Arts which involves Jewelery Design. Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) is a course which has duration of 3 years. In addition to this, there are Diploma and Certificate courses available in Jewelery Design too. Candidates who have passed their class 12 are eligible to apply for all these courses.
Who is eligible to apply?
Candidates must be Indian citizens. They must be atleast 17 years at the time of admission. They must have a degree in fine arts from an accepted university or board. Moreover, those who are applying for this course must have good creative skills, a passion to the job, a good sense of design, precision and a very good eye for detail. It is imperative that the candidates have a good knowledge about the manufacturing of ornaments. They should also be familiar with the fashion industry on the global front as well.
How to prepare for exam and interview
The ability to draw is a very helpful quality in the case of jewelry designers. The candidates will be required to draw some patterns or designs. They will also be asked questions related to gems, valuable stones, etc. The candidates can read articles regarding jewelry or ask some one experienced in the field. Then can thus acquire details about the different metals used in jewelry and the workshop materials that are required. After the course in Jewelry Designing is completed, candidates can work as interns or as apprentices.
