The Union Public Service Commission, shortly called as UPSC came into existence in the year 1926 on the 1st of October and it is constitutional body in the Republic of India. The Commission holds the authority to appoint candidates to different civil services in India by conducting examinations.

Recruitment by UPSC:

The Union Public Service Commission has called for applications from eligible candidates for the position of Marketing Officer (Group I).

Name of the position: Marketing Officer (Group I) for Survey, Training & Control

Number of Vacancies: 38 (11 for General, 15 for OBC, 7 for SC, 5 for ST and 3 for PH candidates)

Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 plus GP of Rs. 4600. Total emoluments exclusive of HRA and TA at the time of appointment will be Rs. 20,989 per month approximately.

Probationary Period: Two years

Job description of Marketing Officer (Group I):

Candidates appointed for the position of Marketing Officer, will be responsible for the following tasks:

To assist in the work pertaining to quality control and grading of agricultural commodities inclusive of formulation of grade standards and grades.

To assist in conduction of research studies relating to development of problems in marketing of agricultural produce and drafting of technical reports and

Survey and investigation at field level of marketing conditions with respect to agricultural commodities and collection, compilation and interpretation of relevant data.

Eligibility requirement:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed their PG degree in commerce/economics/agricultural marketing/agricultural economics/botany/agriculture with economics from a recognized university. Even candidates with diploma in marketing management awarded by the Indian Institute of Food Technology or any other recognized university/institution can apply.

Experience: Candidates should have two years experience in the field of agricultural marketing inclusive of cooperative marketing.

However, these educational requirements and experience can be relaxed by UPSC for SC/ST and PH candidates if candidates from that community do not apply with the aforesaid qualifications.

Age requirement: Candidates must not be more than 30 years of age on the date of closing of application. The maximum age limit is 35 for SC/ST candidates and 33 for OBC candidates.
