Medical Officers, Maharashtra Public Service Commission
MPSC is under the article 320 of the Constitution. It performs the functions like recruitment for various posts for the service of state, conducting examinations, advising government on methods of recruitment, disciplinary matters, awarding pensions to govt. servants etc.
Job profile: The medical officers will be required to work in different parts of the state and in various departments. They will be responsible for providing medical care, treatment, check up, assistance etc. They will also be required to report in case of emergency.
Eligibility: A candidate must not exceed the age of 35 years. However, relaxation can be claimed.
Educational Qualifications: A candidate must have a degree in MBBS from a recognized university as per the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. A candidate having a post graduation degree will have an advantage.
No. of posts: There are 1396 posts in total. These posts are distributed as – SC-175, ST-94, denotified tribes-40, nomadic tribes-108, special backward classes-27, OBC-254 and UR-698. (These also include 43 posts reserved for PH).
Pay scale: The medical officers will be offered a pay scale of Rs8000-13500 plus the other usual allowances as per the rules.
Probation period and Bond: The candidates are required to sign a bond of 5 years and they will be on probation for a period of 2 years.
Selection process: The candidates are required to appear for a written exam/interview.
How to apply: The candidates can purchase the form from the post office (in Maharashtra only) after a payment of Rs100 or they can download it from the website. The candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs250 (GEN) and Rs125 (other classes) at the time of purchasing the form. The application forms are to be submitted in the mentioned post offices only.
The last date for submission of forms is 20th August 2009.
