M.Sc Marine Biotechnology- Admission procedure and Future Prospects
Aspirants who intend to pursue M.Sc Marine Biotechnology course can join either Andhra University or Goa University. These are the two main universities that offer M.Sc Marine Biotechnology course in India. Candidates can seek admission to this course on the basis of their score in Andhra University Common Entrance Test (AUCET) or National Combined Entrance Examination in Biotechnology.
After completing M.Sc in Marine Biotechnology, one can find the job of Technical Executive, Customer Service Manager or Distribution Manager in reputed biotech, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food processing companies. They can pursue doctoral level courses in related stream and get into higher posts available in CSIR laboratories.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility requirements specified to apply for M.Sc Marine Biotechnology course offered at Andhra University is to have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following stream with minimum of 55% marks.

- Chemistry
- Biotechnology
- Bioinformatics
- Medicine
- Zoology
- Biochemistry
- Agriculture
Such graduates should have studied Life Science/Biology as optional or main subject during the undergraduate course.
To apply for M.Sc Marine Biotechnology course offered at Goa University, one should have a Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern in any of the following stream
- Physical Science
- Agricultural Science
- Fishery Science
- Biological Science
- Veterinary Science
- Pharmacy
- Engineering/Technology
Those who have completed four year B.Sc degree in Physician Assistant can also forward their application to Goa University. MBBS or BDS graduates are also eligible to apply as well. Candidates are required to obtain minimum of 55% marks in the final year examination of the concerned qualifying degree.
Admission procedure
If the candidates want to join Andhra University for pursuing M.Sc in Marine Biotechnology course, then they should first of all submit their application to the office of the Directorate of Admissions in Andhra University. All applicants will be invited to appear for Andhra University Common Entrance Test (AUCET). A merit list will be prepared in accordance with the score obtained in AUCET and counseling will be held for each applicant based on this list.
To join M.Sc Marine Biotechnology course offered at Goa University, one should first of all apply for National Combined Entrance Examination in Biotechnology held by Jawaharlal Nehru University. Once they get qualified in the entrance test, they can seek admission to Goa University on the basis of their entrance test score. The competent authority will invite them for counseling according to the availability of seats.

Pharmaceutical and Biotech companies like Dabur, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, Ranbaxy, Biocon etc. offer wide array of employment opportunities for M.Sc graduates in Marine Biotechnology. By joining these companies, they can earn up to a starting salary of Rs. 20, 000/- per month.
