Physiologist - How to become a Physiologist?
Physiology is a discipline of Biology which is concerned with the working of living systems. Scientific methods are used in physiology to determine the chemical and physical functioning of organisms and the structure of their organs. In addition to this, bimolecular and cells are also studied. As there are many areas of specialization available in physiology, the job opportunities available are plenty for  qualified physiologists.
Various colleges and universities in India and abroad offer programs in physiology for candidates who are interested in becoming physiologists.
Qualifying Exam
Those candidates who are applying for the course in physiology should appear for an entrance examination. Each university will have its own entrance exam. The selection of the candidates will be based on the marks scored in this exam.
Who is eligible to apply?
Candidates must be citizens of India. They are required to be at least 18 years of age at the time of applying. A pass in class 12 with atleast 55% marks is the basic qualification required for the students. After the completion of their higher secondary class, the aspirants have to obtain a Bachelors degree in Science (B.Sc) to pursue the course in physiology.
The B.Sc degree in the field will enable them to work under the supervision of more skilled and experienced physiologists. A Master’s degree will help the candidate obtain more knowledge in the subject or a selected area. Those candidates who wish to go for higher studies in this field can opt for a PhD. A PhD or MD degree is required for the students to guide a study group or supervise other physiologists.
How to prepare for exam and interview?
Candidates who are appearing for the examination can work on previous question papers or join coaching classes. As timing oneself is important solving as many papers, will be helpful. They can also conduct mock interviews.
Candidates can also prepare for the exams by consulting previous alumni. They will also be able to get ready by reading articles based on the subject.
