The Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination which was established in the year 1982 conducts two main examinations; one in class 10 and the other in class 12. Class 12 board examinations which are conducted in all Government as well as in private schools at the state level is Tamil Nadu Board of Higher Secondary Education. This board comes under the Tamil Nadu State Board of School Examination. Botany is meant for the students who want to take up science in class 12. Botany is actually a part of biology which deals with the study of plants and so it is also called plant biology. The structure, growth, reproduction and evolution of plants are some of the things one can get to know from this subject.

Sectional Division

The paper of Botany has four parts which covers various topics which are included in the syllabus.

Pattern of the Question Paper

The paper carries four parts. The first part consist of thirty multiple choice questions and the candidate is required to answer all the questions. The second part consist of twenty questions and the candidate is suppose answer any fifteen. The third part contains twelve questions out of which seven questions are required to be answered The fourth part consist of long answer questions where any four questions are to be answered out of eight.

Marks Allocation

The total marks in this paper are one hundred and fifty marks. In part 1, the first section is of fourteen marks consisting of multiple choice questions. The second part is of forty five marks where fifteen questions are to be attempted each of three marks. The third part is of of thirty five marks where each question is of five marks respectively. The fourth part is of forty marks where the candidate needs to answer four questions where each question carries ten marks.

Time Duration

Students will be given a time duration of 3 hours to finish their papers.
