Structure of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Ph.D in Physics Entrance Exam

The question paper is divided into two main sections, Section A and Section B. The  exam is carried out as an objective model one. There will be twenty questions in first section and each of these questions includes four different choices. The second section includes eight questions having six different choices. The time duration allotted for the completion of both the sections is 3 hours. The total marks awarded for both the sections are 100. Each question of Section A carries 3 marks. Thus, the maximum marks one can expect from this section are 60. Each question of the second section carries 5 marks and so the total mark one can obtain from this section is 40.

Eligibility Criteria

The students who have completed M.Sc or M.Tech degree can apply for Ph.D degree in Physics. Engineering degree holders are also eligible to apply. Those candidates who have completed their Bachelor of Science degree with good academic results can also apply for the course.

How to Apply?

The request for attending TIFR Ph.D in Physics entrance exam can be submitted through online method only. Those who are residing in remote areas can send the application through post. In that case, the candidate should send a request for application to the concerned address. They must include an envelope of 25cmx 17cm and a stamp of Rs. 20/- along with the request. The candidate must pay a fee amount of Rs. 500/- before sending the application through online method. Those who are receiving the application through postal method should pay an amount of Rs. 550/-. The fee amount can be paid either through Credit/Debit card or in the form of Demand Draft. The DD must be taken in the name of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. This can be taken from any branch of State Bank of India. After remitting the fees, the candidate should send the application prior to the last date.

How to fill the Form?

The candidate must identify the details given in the exam notification, before applying for the exam. They must fill the application, by following the instructions given. The candidate should fill the application with exact details in the similar way as given in matriculation or HSC certificate. Completely filled application must be submitted before the final date.
