XAT is an annual entrance exam conducted by XLRI School of Business and Human Resources for admission to Post Graduate Management Programs of XLRI, Jamshedpur and 60 other management institutes. Earlier XAT was only for admission to XLRI, Jamshedpur but with time to time plenty of other management institutes started using XAT scores for short listing candidates for admission to their management programs. After CAT and MAT, XAT is the most popular entrance exam for management aspirants. XAT differs from other management entrance examinations as candidates are expected to write an essay also on a given topic besides the usual objective type questions. The essay is only considered for admission to XLRI, Jamshedpur.
Popularity of XLRI XAT 2011 exam:
This XLRI XAT 2011 exam is considered as one of the toughest exam that candidates have to face for their upcoming future. Every year candidates are filling the forms and giving good response. This exam is one of the best choices for the students to get admission in XLRI Business School. Every year a large number of application forms will be distributed in all over the country to the interested candidates.
Availability of forms for XLRI XAT 2011:
XAT bulletin is expected to be available in first week of September at selected Axis Bank branches on payment of cash. After that the candidates have to log in XAT website and choose the ‘Paid at Axis Bank mode of payment’ to fill the online form. Then the candidates have to download the PP form and mail it to XAT Office. Candidates can also obtain the XAT bulletin from XLRI by making a demand draft and first registering through XAT website by choosing Demand Draft option. After mailing the printed form to XAT office the candidates will receive the XAT bulletin from XAT office. Candidates also have to choose the institutes where they want to apply for through XAT.
Important Dates (Tentative):
Date of Entrance Examination: 1st week of January, 2011
Date of availability of XAT bulletin and online registration: 1st September-30th November, 2010
Last date for receipt of XAT PP form: 1st week of December, 2010
Admit card download: mid of December-Last week of December
Result Declaration: by end of the January, 2012
Eligibility criteria for XLRI XAT:
To be eligible for appearing in XAT a candidate should have either completed the graduation or should be in the final year of graduation for provisional admission.
Courses Offered:
Master of Business Administration: Two year
Business Management Program: Two year full time
Personal Management and Industrial Relations Program: Two year full time
General Management Program: One year full time program for working executives
Executive PG Program: Three year part time program for working executives
Pattern of Examination:
XAT exam is of 140 minutes and consists of 200 objective type questions and an essay of 250-300 words. Objective questions are asked ffrom the following sections:
English-80 questions
Reasoning and Quantitative Ability-60 questions
General Awareness-60 questions
All these sections are allotted a time of 40 minutes each. For every correct answer a candidates gets 1 mark and 1/3 marks is deducted for an incorrect answer. In the remaining 20 minutes candidates are supposed to write an essay of 250-300 words on a given topic.
