Union Public Service Commission was founded on October 1, 1926 at New Delhi. The major objective behind the establishment of the commission was to have a constitutional body in the country to conduct examinations for the government services. The major function of the commission is to conduct written as well as the interview tests for making recruitment on the posts of various Civil Services of India. The first ever Public Service Commission was established on October 1, 1926 by the then British Indian Government.
