Fashion designing is the art of designing clothes and also accessories. Interior designing is the art of decorating and recreating the interior of a building. It is a multifaceted profession.

Fashion designer course and opportunities

Candidates who are applying for the Diploma or Degree in Fashion Designing course must have completed their 10+2. Those who wish to pursue the PG course in Fashion designing must be graduates in Arts or Science. Students who have completed their course can find employment in fields like garment store chains and cloth boutiques in addition to jewelry houses and export houses. Textile mills also hire professionals who are interested in fashion designing. Professionals of this field can also start institutes on their own.

Interior designer course and opportunities

Candidates who are interested in applying for this course must be graduates in fine arts.

The basic qualification that is needed for the candidates is a pass in class 10+2 with Mathematics and Chemistry. They should also have taken English in addition to Biology and Physics subjects. The candidates must have scored at least 55% marks in their final exams.  As interior designing is one of the fastest growing professions in the world, there are many career opportunities available for professionals in a variety of fields. Interior Designers can find work in areas like architecture, metropolitan development works, resort chains, consultancies, theaters and exhibition organizers etc. Candidates can also start their own companies.

Key differentiators

Fashion designing deals with the aesthetics of cloth. It is also concerned with designing clothes and apparels by making them more eye catching. Interior designing deals with beautifying the interior of homes and other buildings. While, fashion designing is influenced by traditional and social attitudes, interior designing is the systematic and synchronized methodology of creating an aura of beauty. This is done by the use of many themes. Numerous themes like Victorian, Indian Mughal, Louis XV, English Georgian etc are available for people who wish to change the interior design of their homes.
