One of the courses offered by IGNOU is a Master of Science (M.Sc) degree in Dietetics and Food Service Management (DFSM). The course is of 64 credits and is divided into 10 theoretical papers and 9 practical papers. MFN-002 is a Nutritional biochemistry paper which has 2 credits and the rest 2 credit is given to the practical session. This subject deals with the biochemical compounds, their structure and activities.

Nutritional Biochemistry paper has 11 topics to be covered. They are Hormones; Vitamins and Minerals; Inborn Errors of Metabolism; Amino Acid Nucleotide Metabolism; Lipid Metabolism, Carbohydrate Metabolism; Digestion, Absorption and Transport of Carbohydrates, Proteins and Lipids; Enzymes and Coenzymes; Vitamins; Lipids and Proteins; Carbohydrates.

Time Duration:

A candidate is given 150 minutes to solve this paper.

Division of the paper:

MFN-002, a paper on nutritional biochemistry has a total of 7 questions and each carries 20 marks. Question 1 is compulsory and has two sub parts. From the remaining 6 questions one has to answer only 3. Question 2-6 are direct questions from the above mentioned topics which can be easily prepared by going through the previous year papers and question 7 is short note writing. Few topics are given and a candidate needs to answer any 4. A candidate should also practice the structure of the biochemical compounds.
