Punjab State Agricultural Marketing Board was founded on May 26, 1961 under the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1961. The board comes under the control of Government of India. The main objective behind the establishment of board was to control an supervise the marketi ng network of sale, purchase and storage of agricultural produce. There are overall 145 agricultural produce market commiittees present in the state of Punjab which were established under the same Act. Strengthning the agricultural marketing system in Punjab state is one of the prime objective of the board.
