Power Electronics Engineer – How to become a Power Electronics Engineer?
Power Electronics Engineers are the professionals who develop power electronic products. Job responsibilities of Power Electronics Engineer also include the analysis of power electronic products. Those who specialize in the electrical field are known as Power Electronics Electrical Engineers and those who work in the mechanical field are called Power Electronics Mechanical Engineers. Power Electronics Electrical Engineers design the circuit of the Power Electronic products while Power Electronics Mechanical Engineers are responsible for the Mechanical design and layout of those products.
Qualifying Exam
Power Electronics Engineer should have an engineering degree in the concerned branch related to their specialization. Both undergraduates and postgraduates in engineering are eligible for this post. If the candidates have a Ph.D in the concerned engineering branch, then it will be considered as an additional qualification. Some of the companies offer the job of the Power Electronics Engineer to M.Sc graduates in Physics. But such candidates should have exceptional skills in the areas related to Power Electronics.
Who are eligible to apply?
Candidates who possess any of the degrees given below are eligible for the position of Power Electronics Engineer -
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Materials Engineering
Those who possess higher qualifications in the above mentioned areas are also eligible for this post. Apart from the educational requirements, candidates should also have enough skills to analyze, design and develop power electronic products. Project work of the candidates during their course curriculum will be considered as a substitute for work experience for entry level positions. Some of the companies prefer candidates having product development experience also. Such candidates should have two or three experience as Power Electronics Engineer.
